We recommend booking your consultation at least two weeks in advance.
  • What to expect in nutrition consultation sessions?
We will delve into defining your personal interpretation of 'healthy' and collaboratively create a tailored, achievable plan to meet your goals. Initial Consultation (50 minutes): The initial session is devoted to a comprehensive nutrition assessment. It includes a review of your medical history, a discussion about weight-related concerns, an analysis of your dietary and exercise patterns, and addressing any treatment-specific queries. This session also signifies the commencement of your nutritional education and the establishment of realistic goals for our ongoing partnership. Follow-Up Sessions (30 minutes): These sessions are customized to your unique needs, focusing on the objectives identified during the initial consultation. Frequency: New clients will meet with Cecilia for one initial consultation and one follow-up consultation within the first month. Old clients typically meet with Cecilia monthly, but the frequency can be adjusted to suit your individual requirements. Please consult with Cecilia to determine the best schedule for you. Cecilia is committed to equipping you with the necessary tools for a life enriched with balanced nutrition and a positive food mindset. • Can you help me lose weight?
Cecilia assists clients who have a medical necessity for weight loss. She adheres to the Health At Every Size® philosophy and does not endorse medically unnecessary dietary restrictions or weight loss. Her approach focuses on helping clients improve their relationship with food, guiding them to eat according to hunger and satiety signals, and shifting away from using food as a stress coping mechanism. During this process, clients may experience changes in weight, although weight loss is not the primary goal.

  • What are all those letters after your name?
The Ed.M signifies that the individual has earned a Master of Education degree, with Cecilia specializing in Human Development and Psychology. The RD designation identifies someone as a Registered Dietitian.
  • What is the difference between a Nutritionist, an RD, and an RDN?
Great question! The term "nutritionist" is more ambiguous. It can refer to someone with extensive education, such as a Ph.D. in nutrition science, or to someone with minimal training, like a weekend workshop certificate. The key is to ensure whoever you work with has comprehensive training for your specific needs. A Registered Dietitian (RD) is a qualified nutrition professional who has at least a Bachelor's degree in nutrition science, completed 1200 hours of supervised dietetic practice, and passed a national certification exam. Starting in 2024, RDs are required to earn a master's degree. To maintain their credentials, RDs are required to earn a minimum of 75 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits every five years. The terms RD and RDN mean the same thing. The RDN (Registered Dietitian Nutritionist) credential is a newer term endorsed by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, primarily to leverage the more commonly recognized term "nutritionist." In the United States, only "Registered Dietitians" are qualified to work in clinical or medical settings, such as hospitals and long-term care facilities.
